Packing

I starting going through my clothing for the cruise today. I was surprised that I already have enough outfits for every evening. So, I don't get to go shopping any more, but that's probably a good thing. Mom helped me out, and I think we're both getting pretty excited.

Changes

We spent Saturday working on changes at the Case House. We shopped at IKEA (a nightmare on a Saturday afternoon!) for new cabinets for our laundry room. After the kids went to bed, we painted a first coat of what turned out to be the same color we started with. That was NOT in the plan, but it's okay. I had a color picked out, then I took a piece of the new tile and a paint chip to Loveland Hardware, where I made a last minute switch to another color. Porter paints has changed the color names since we originally chose "Soft Cloud" as the color for the builder to paint our whole home. Turns out, "Almond Cream" is really "Soft Cloud" in disguise. I guess it just means I liked the color more than I thought.

Saying Goodbye

Another dear friend is moving away. When we told Jeremy that his friends Noah and Bekah are moving, he said, "Mom, this is the SECOND time a friend moved away." The injustice! Since their house is almost all packed up now, we had them over for dinner tonight. I made lasagna, salad, fruit, and garlic bread. Mom brought over some buttermilk pie she had made as an experiment. Delicious! Despite a rocky start, Bekah even had Goober listening to her commands by the end of the evening.

Friendships

We had a lovely evening with the A family. I fixed flank steak, apple-walnut-feta salad, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and fruit salad. The As brought yummy gluten-free muffins and ice cream for dessert. The kids had to compete with the parents for time on the Wii. The Cases have introduced yet another family to the fun of Raving Rabbids! It's such fun to hang out with friends.

Ronald McDonald

Jeremy's cub scout pack went to the Ronald McDonald House last night to serve an ice cream party. They were a little loud and crazy, but they did serve ice cream for about 30 people. Jeremy was so cute wearing his plastic serving gloves.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Okay - I'm a little biased, but the kid is seriously cute. He starred as a weed in LECC's production of "How Does Your Garden Grow." He'll be dancing his way to fame before we know it. A super-cute musical, halls full of art, and classroom open house made for an awesome night at LECC.

A highlight was Mrs. Bebout relaying a conversation she had with Jeremy after lunch (Cincinnati Chili Three-Ways) one day last week:

Mrs. B: Jeremy! It looks like you enjoyed lunch [it was all over his pants]. How much got in your belly?

Jeremy (thinking a few seconds): About 95%.
