Back to Reality
At 7:45, I hustled my two guys out to the bus stop, and at 7:53 I waved at them as the bus pulled away. Vacation was great, but it was awesome to send them back to school (and work!), too. I got right down to vacuuming (which I'm pretty sure I hadn't done in at least a week and a half) and cleaning the carpet. The day was spent cleaning, washing, organizing, putting things away, and a few minutes of reading and puzzle working! We needed to squeeze in dinner before evening activities, so I fed the boys hot dogs and fried apples, and I made black beans and rice for me. I took the boys to karate, where Tim picked up J after his class and took him to basketball. So begins our busy weeknight routine. I don't think I'm ready to have it back just yet!

Christmas Vacation Day 13
It's hard to believe Christmas break is almost over. We enjoyed our last day - the boys' choice was to go bowling. We went to Eastgate Lanes, where we bowled 3 games! Jeremy had his best scores ever - I think the last game he scored 111! (Of course, if we didn't have bumpers it would be another story.) Even with bumpers, I didn't even break 100! After bowling, we stopped at Kohl's to spend our soon-to-expire Kohl's Cash (we got a Christmas candle), and then had dinner at LaRosa's. We had a low-key evening, with the boys playing wii and computer games. I read to them (maybe for the first time over break) from The Borrower's Afield. We actually got them in bed by 9:30, and Tim and I followed shortly after!

Christmas Vacation Day 12
New Year's Day! We woke up at 9:15, in time to get ourselves to church. My cold was in full force, and the single service for the morning was with the praise band. At one point while standing and singing, I thought I might pass out. I did manage to make it through. When we got home, I hung out on the computer for a while, trying to catch up on photos and on the blog. Before I knew it, it was time to head over to Mike and Louise's house. The boys went right downstairs to play wii, and we watched the Bengal's game. Mike had unbelievable quantities of completely unhealthy food - homemade salami, cheese spreads, chili, fried fish, onion rings, Godiva chocolates, cheesecakes, Rachel's birthday cake, and so on. The one glimmer of health was the beautiful fruit bowl Mom brought. Everything was good, but I left feeling stuffed. The next door neighbors came by, and Zachary actually taught their boys how to play Sorry. Mike and Patty, Connie and Don, Auntie, Mom, Pam and Vince, and Rachel and Lauren were there.
