A Friend! A Friend!

Okay, seriously. Goodreads is the bomb. I've been tracking books I've read on goodreads for the last year or so. This is the next best thing to book club - maybe it'd be even better if there were wine involved. FINALLY I have a friend I'm not related to. (A goodreads friend, that is.) Check it out and let me know what you've been reading. www.goodreads.com

P.S. - You should totally see what Zachary's been up to over there, too. His reviews are a hoot!

Find Me My Tarts!

Zachary's school hosted fine arts night last night. They started out with a musical performance of "The Queen of Hearts and Her Missing Tarts." There were a couple of second grade classes and a couple of first grade classes performing at the same time. What fun! I know Zachary has been working for a long time on this, and he was GREAT! (Yeah, the other kids were good too.) Here's a small snippet:

It was also an open house in his classroom. No matter how many times Tim, Grandma Hicks, and I visit his school, he's always SO excited to show us around. This time he had a list of things to show us, and he was determined to go through each and every one IN ORDER.

First, we saw his cubby:

Then, his All About Me project:
(Because, of course, he believes he should be dressed completely in yellow every day.) Great Grandma would be glad to know his favorite place to go is "Minnusoada."

Then, some of his work out in the hall:

Here he is with his FANTASTIC teacher, Miss Gill. (Hi, Miss Gill!) In all seriousness, we couldn't ask for a better teacher. Zachary's learning lots and having fun, and she's as sweet as can be. If he has to spend the majority of his day with someone besides me, I'm glad it's Miss Gill. And I'm NOT saying that just because she said she was going to check out our blog, either. :)

As soon as Zachary saw his art teacher, Mrs. Shutts, in the library, he ran right over to get a photo with her:

And Jeremy was feeling a little left out, so we took a picture of him outside of school:

Of course, the night wouldn't have been complete without a trip to the "taco restaurant" across the street. Several other families had the same idea. What an awesome night. I'm so proud of Zachary and how hard he works every day!

Happy New Year

What have we been up to so far this year?

A little of this:

A little of this (football and posing for the camera):
A little of this:

And a whole lotta this:
Zachary has started back up with Super Saturdays. He's taking origami this time. He's also doing well in his yellow belt karate classes and Cub Scouts. Jeremy is still taking tumblebees, but he'll be finishing up with that and starting karate soon. So, life is back to its usual chaos for us.
