Minnesota Day 03 - In the Water

For Mike.  Photos of the boat repairs.  Doesn't look like I got any good shots of the floor.  Will try that tomorrow!
This is the thingy that you slide over to put the tall light in.

Monday morning - I had stayed up too late the night before, so I intended to sleep in.  The trouble is that when you sleep on the porch, it's extremely difficult to sleep in, both because of the activity in the main part of the cabin right behind you and because as soon as the sun comes up, it's bright in there!

Zachary woke up before most of us (which makes sense, because according to Mom he went to sleep at 6:30 PM the night before).  He started making himself a strawberry banana smoothie!   We had a morning of chores, then Tim, the boys, and I left for Virginia to pick up Mike's boat.  We got haircuts for the boys while we were there.  Zach wanted a shampoo for some reason, so we spent the $3 to have the girl shampoo his hair!  Tim teased the boys about getting mohawks, and Jeremy thought I was going to pay him $2 not to get one.

It took a little while to get the boat - the wiring connector for the hitch had come off.  We finally got going and made it back to the cabin in one piece.  Then, I helped Mom work on dinner while Tim got the motor on the boat.  The boys were invited over to the Knapp's for a sauna.  That led to jumping in the (67 degree) water, and much fun and silliness ensued.  We finally called them in to go get the boat in the water.  When we got over to the public landing, there was someone fishing there.  That's always a bad sign, because then there is an audience for whatever stupid thing we might do wrong.  Turns out, this guy claims he's done some stupid things himself.  We had a nice, long chat while Tim tried to get the motor running.  He is an elementary school librarian in Minneapolis staying in his VAN at Bearhead so he can fish on Eaglesnest!  Tim wasn't able to get the motor started.  We had think it might need new spark plugs, but we really don't know.  We had to tow the thing BACK to the cabin.

Once at home, Tim and I took a VERY quick swim in the freezing cold lake.  Then, we all enjoyed the awesome, very special meal of Chicken and Dumplings that Mom made for us.  After dinner, Tim and Zach were down at the lake when Lydia and Immy came by to ask the boys to take a paddle boat ride.  Jeremy had to finish helping with dishes.  When he was done, there was a plan to jump off of the paddle boat and swim, but they all just wound up in the sauna and jumping off the dock again.

Tim and I took a short paddle in the kayaks.  When I got back to the dock, I was struggling to try to get out and trying to follow Tim's directions, and I wound up laying flat in the lake beside the kayak.  It was COLD and humiliating, but I was fine and provided wonderful entertainment for the rest of the night.

We rounded out the night with a game of penny in the pot, won by Jeremy.  So much fun and lots of laughs tonight!!
