Day 17: Beach

The boys and I spent all afternoon at the beach at Bearhead. It was probably the warmest day we've had so far. They swam, built "waterslides" in the sand, and even played a little with other kids. We saw a baby mud turtle swimming around and some baby hawks (Cooper's hawks, maybe?) in a nearby pine tree waiting for mama to come feed them. And a bald eagle swooped down right in front of the swimming area. Mom went home at 4:00 to fix dinner and came back to pick us up.

The wind died down a bit in the evening, and it was an incredible night. Zachary, Mom, and I played scrabble in the screenhouse. We also had a little campfire. The kids got to bed late again, but who can put kids to bed while it's still light out on a perfect, beautiful night?
