Day 7: Sunshine

A beautiful Minnesota day today. The sun shone all day. We were in the water, though we still amost froze. Zachary and Jeremy went in out in the paddle boat by themselves for the first time ever today. (Yes, Dad, they were wearing life jackets and I made them stay near the dock.) We had a big adventure when a dog of unknown origin ran into our yard and stole Jeremy's Vanilla Doggy webkin. After a search on foot and then by boat, we recovered Vanilla Doggy with the help of some kids a few docks down. I would not have imagined we'd get him back, much less in the same condition as when we lost him. Lucky boy.

Tonight while fishing, Tim and I saw a loon with a baby on its back, 2 herons, and a huge snapping turtle up on land looking like it might be laying eggs. Then, there was a mama duck with 6 babies by our dock. Outstanding. The mayflies are out in unbelievable numbers, too. No fish, but hey, who cares on a night like this?
